We have learned a lot since first taking off on our first adventure almost two years ago. As anyone who has owned an RV knows there are so many things one needs to know to make life on the road a little easier. Below are many of the luxuries we have purchased and used to easy our daily chores and make life enjoyable during our adventures across this great country.
The first big thing we did was to figure out what vehicle we wanted to tow behind our Tiffin so we could get around once reaching our destination. We waited over a year before deciding on a vehicle. I first wanted to see what everyone else was towing and how they did it. After talking with many fellow campers we decided on a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. It is easy to hookup as it only takes about five minutes to get hooked to the motorhome. It tows all four wheels on the ground and I rarely can even tell that it is back there.
We ordered the Tiffin with a builtin in-motion satellite system which we used with Dish network for a year or so before foregoing that in favor of YouTubeTV. So now we stream whenever we wish to watch something other than local channels. It haDVR so we can record the shows we wish to watch and then watch them at our convenience.
The absolute best purchase was a Mifi device from Verizon. It is about as small as a cellphone and allows us to have an internet connection almost everywhere we have traveled. It has been rare that we could not get a good Verizon signal. The plan is no longer offered but we are grandfathered in on a truly no limit plan without any restrictions. No one offers a true unlimited plan any longer so we are very fortunate to have this now.
I did not like the old grill we used and once again I looked at what other were using and talked to other campers before determining to buy a Weber 1000 grill. It is simply great, heats up quickly and cooks everything fast. By far the best small grill I have ever used.
I recently purchased a Rhino portable holding tank to move the grey water from the RV to the dump station easily. It is 21 gallons with bigger wheels and has worked great in the few times I have used it. We can go about five or six days without the need to empty the holding tanks in the RV but with the portable tank we now will not need to unhook to dump if our campsite remains the same for longer than a week.
